    Philip Bangert studied Physics at the Technical University of Darmstadt with a minor in Space Science and Technology. During a stay at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) he gained first experience with satellite technology while working for the first Swiss satellite SwissCube. For his Master degree he joined the SpaceMaster - Space Science and Technology program in 2010 and graduated in 2012. During his studies he worked on the University Wuerzburg Experimental Satellite UWE-3 in the area of attitude determination and control. From 2012 to 2013 he joined the Zentrum für Telematik (ZfT) and continued his work on small satellite technology in different projects, including GP-AIMS (spaceborne surveillance of intercontinental rail-based transport of goods) and Phase A/B1 for the ESA satellite OPS-SAT. At the same time, he continued his work on the UWE-3 satellite comprising qualification testing and check-out operations at the launch site. Since launch of the satellite in November 2013 he is involved in the operation and analysis of data of the UWE-3 technical payload. Since January 2014 he works as reaseach assistant on the next UWE mission intended to demonstrate orbit control using electrical propulsion.
